As someone who loves colour, it is rare that I'd opt for an all monochrome look, but sometimes black and white is just so striking and chic.

In fact, this has got to be one of my favourite looks to go from a day of meetings, right through to an evening out, mind you, I'd generally replace the stilettos with leopard flats for a day of running around the city.

Prints, florals, pastels. This dress, from Aussie label, Finders Keepers is an all round winner.

As someone who loves fashion, it's always fun to layer and experiment with over-styling an outfit, but sometimes, a pretty dress and heels is all that's required.

Lately, I've been stocking up on great basics. When shopping a great cut and quality fabric is a must, so I was immediately drawn to this Ksubi t-shirt dress.

The low cut back and flame red colour were too good to resist.

So excited for a really fun photo shoot planned for tomorrow to tie in with Melbourne's upcoming L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.

THE SHIRT DRESS

The shirt dress has got to be the ultimate wardrobe addition. More often than not, it serves as my failsafe work to party pick, and seems to suit any occasion.

This incredible silk print dress, which I picked up from one of my online favourites, Rtister.com is the work of Danish designer, Noir and is beyond words stunning.

I can already tell this will transform beautifully in the cooler months paired back with tights, ankle boots and my favourite leather jacket.

It isn't every day you get the opportunity to play tourist in your own backyard.

Most chances I get to travel, I pack my bags and head abroad, but this summer, I decided to explore more of my own country.

Followers of Friend in Fashion on  instagram (@friendinfashion)facebook and twitter, for the last few weeks would have followed my road-trip adventure from Melbourne, all the way up north to Australia's Sunshine Coast. A total of around 3,000 kms (close to 2,000 miles).

I had an amazing time exploring beautiful beaches, and hidden local gems, like Hyams Beach on NSW's Central Coast and The Bridge Seafood in Mooloolaba.

The first instalment of my travel pictures, were snapped at one of my favourite stops along the way, Merimbula on the South Coast of NSW.

Sun, surf and sand. Nothing quite like a summer road-trip.
